Neil Shen, Founding and Managing Partner of Sequoia Capital China.
Mr. Shen is the founder of Ctrip, where he acted as CEO and CFO for a long time. Ctrip is the biggest travel-service company in China and got listed in NASDAQ by the end of 2003. Mr. Shen is also the founder and chairman of Home Inns & Hotels Management, which is the industry leader of China’s economy hotel chain and got listed in NASDAQ in 2006. Mr. Shen is also the investor and director of China’s biggest out-door media company—Focus Media, and China’s biggest property-service company—E-house. Neil Shen was awarded “Top 10 Economic Figures in China of the Year 2006” by CCTV and “Chinese Economic Leader” in 2010. He was awarded the best venture capitalists by Forbes, Zero2IPO, Investment and Cooperation, Outstanding Person and Global Entrepreneur and he also ranked No.1 among “China Best Venture Capitalists” by Forbes in 2010. He was also named the 50 most charismatic CEO by Contemporary Manager, the Top 10 Figure of China’s Private Economy by China Business Times and “Asian Entrepreneur of the Year 2004” by Asian Venture Journal. Before he founded Ctrip, Mr. Shen had worked for more than 8 years in investment banks in both New York and Hong Kong. He had been a director of Deutsche Bank, acting as the executive of Chinese Capital Market.
Before that, Mr. Shen had worked in Investment Banking Department of Lehman Brothers and Citibank. Mr. Shen is now the Director of China Entrepreneur Forum, standing Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce, President of Tianjin Private Equity Association and Vice President of Beijing Private Equity Association.
Mr. Shen received his master’s degree in Management from Yale University and his bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
Kui Zhou, Partner of Sequoia Capital China. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2005, Mr. Zhou worked for Legend Capital, where he led several successful investments such as SinoCom Software, Shenzhen SkyInfo, VanceInfo and Kaituo Technology. Mr. Zhou also worked for Lenovo Group, where he took charge of business development and investment management.
Mr. Zhou has years of working experience in small and medium sized enterprises covering fields of metallurgy, telecommunication and manufacturing management consulting.
Mr. Zhou received his MBA from Tsinghua University and his bachelor’s degree in Electric Automation from Wuhan University of Technology.
Steven Ji, Partner of Sequoia Capital China. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2005, Mr. Ji had been with Walden International, Vertex Management and CIV Venture Capital, where he was in charge of numbers of investment projects. Steven Ji was also among the first group of employees of Seagate Technology China, where he held several managerial posts successively.
Mr. Ji received his MBA from China Europe International Business School and bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
